AT&TThe FCC has determined that the $48.5B merger of AT&T and DirecTV is in the public interest, and has approved the deal with conditions. The companies wasted no time closing the deal.


According to the Commission, the deal received three unqualified yeas from Chairman Tom Wheeler and Commissioners Mignon Clyburn and Jessica Rosenworcel, all Democrats. Republican were split in an unusual manner, as Michael O’Rielly concurred in part and Ajit Pai dissented in part.
