Media General, Suddenlink in Retrans Talks

Media GeneralWSLS-TV 10 serves the Roanoke-Lynchburg VA DMA, but it will be absent on one of the market’s MVPDs if an agreement isn’t reached soon for retransmission consent.


The situation was reported by WSLS itself.

The MVPD is Suddenlink.

The station explained to viewers, “If an agreement is not reached, by law, Suddenlink Cable can no longer carry WSLS 10. That means you will no longer receive NBC programming, WSLS 10 newscasts & programming, as well as potential severe weather alerts.

Please call Suddenlink and tell them you do not want to lose WSLS 10 and all of your favorite programming.”

The station also suggested that viewers protest paying for programming they cannot receive from the service in the event of a carriage disruption.

Finally, WSLS noted that it is available over the air of from alternative MVPD services.

WSLS is a Media General station. It is the local NBC affiliate.

The current retrans contract expires 4/7/15.
