Long Island’s WELJ to Change Hands

By on Jul, 19 2016 with Comments 0

SoldEddie Esserman’s Joule Broadcasting is selling a New York FM. WELJ is licensed to Montauk, close to the tip of Long Island

Bold Broadcasting is the buyer. The company has no attributable interests in other stations, nor does Holtsville, N.Y.-based Glamlots, the 60% voting member of Bold.

Joule is selling WELJ in its capacity as trustee of the RLH Divestiture Trust. The assets include a tower site license with Pinnacle Towers.

The price is $197,000 in immediately payable funds at closing. Bold was to make a $10,000 deposit that will be placed in escrow until closing.

Joule was recently granted an engineering STA to operate the station at reduced power while tower work is completed. Because of the summer heat in New York, neither WELJ’s main nor aux transmitters can operate at sufficient power to achieve the required minimum operating levels.

Radio License Holding transferred WELJ to Volt Radio as a trustee in 2011; it was one of 4 sets of applications filed for spins needed when Cumulus acquired Citadel.

“104.7 Nash Icon” is a Class A FM with an ERP of 6,000 watts @ 315’ HAAT.
