Jim West dead at 84

Jingle/radio legend Jim West died Friday after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and COPD.


West started out as a jazz musician, but left the road to work for Pams and helped make it a legendary jingle production company. He later joined the newly launched TM Productions, becoming General Sales Manager and eventually General Manager. After that West helped create and launch Al Ham’s “Music of Your Life” syndicated format and partnered with Richard Fairbanks to create the Fairwest syndication company.

Later in life, West found yet another career as voice-over talent, ranging from the Ross Perot presidential campaigns to Dairy Queen. He won an Emmy Award for his voice work on Disney’s “Legends of the Ring of Fire” animated shorts.
