Rochester, NY – WHEC-TV is seeking an Investigative Reporter whose mission is to report unique stories that center on accountability, force transparency and bring results using a wide array of sources. We want a reporter whose in-depth stories leave viewers wanting more of the same.

•Prior experience in investigative journalism
•Proven abilities in live reporting
•The ability to understand and interpret key government, court and business documents provided by well-placed, high-level sources who you’ve cultivated.
•Abilities in critical thinking, quick and effective decision making, live ad-libbing and maintaining performance under extreme pressure and on strict deadline required.
•The mindset that what you do here will bring immense value to the Rochester community and people across greater New York State who expect quality journalism in order to make critical decisions.
•Superb research, writing and reporting skills
•Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
•Knowledge of photojournalism and non-linear editing a must
•Team player who works well in a collaborative environment
•Professional, consistent on-air appearance
•Must be flexible to work any assigned shift including days, nights, weekends, holidays; and extended hours.
•Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving history as determined by the Company. Driving record will be checked.

•Responsible for reporting and shooting in-depth news stories.
•Research and schedule news stories, gather information, write stories, interview subject and reports live on air or in the field during assigned newscast
•Shoot and edit non-linear for broadcasts.
•Enterprise stories in line with our brand on a daily basis.
•Create excellent audience-directed content for web and social media.
•Commitment and ability to develop and maintain sources.
•Participate in community events as station representative.
•Maintain appropriate and strict standards regarding wardrobe, hair, cosmetics and grooming as directed by management.
•This position will require use of cameras, research sources and editing equipment.
