Goodbye Oprah, hello local news

Nexstar’s WTAJ-TV (CBS) Altoona-State College-Johnstown, PA is the latest station to announce that it will fill the daily slot currently occupied by “The Oprah Winfrey Show” with expanded local news. The new 4:00 pm newscast will launch September 12th.


“Central PA Live” will be the first one hour, live, local newscast in DMA #102. WTAJ says the program will offer Central Pennsylvania viewers fresh, topical programming with a specialized focus on local lifestyle content including segments from experts on various topics ranging from health, personal finances, family and a host of community interests. Central PA Live will feature a fully interactive platform to connect viewers through CentralPATV.com and social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter. 

Commenting on the upcoming launch of CENTRAL PA LIVE, WTAJ-TV Vice President and General Manager, Phil Dubrow noted,

Central PA Live will be co-hosted by Central Pennsylvania native Dawn Pellas and former KAAL-TV (ABC) Rochester, MN Senior Reporter Sarah Swistak. Pellas was most recently a reporter at Cablevision’s News 12 New Jersey.
