What do The Knack, Mungo Jerry, Violent Femmes, Smash Mouth and legendary Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson have in common?
They were all played within the same half hour on a Thursday afternoon at WWFD-AM 820 in Frederick, Md., a quirky freeform operation with a growing cult-like audience across the Washington, DC market.
In response to the station’s increasing popularity, parent Hubbard Radio is acquiring an second FM translator for an operation that – based on its playlist – is appropriately named “The Gamut.”
