Howard-SymonsThe FCC is getting a new General Counsel.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler intends to appoint Howard Symons as the next General Counsel — the principal advisory office to the entire commission. Lawyers in the office represent the agency in litigation and recommend actions.

Symons has been vice chair of the commission’s Incentive Auction Task Force.

Jon Sallet has left the General Counsel’s Office after two and a half years. Sallet is going to the Department of Justice to be on its Antitrust Division team as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Litigation.
