FCC nominees remain in limbo

We went ahead and contacted the offices of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) regarding the status of his hold on FCC Commissioner candidates Jessica Rosenworcel and Ajit Pai. The headline above says it all.

Grassley has been investigating the FCC’s involvement in wireless business LightSquared and has requested certain documents on the matter

The FCC has refused to turn over the documents.

So Grassley is refusing to allow the two nominees to earn confirmation by the full Senate.

They have at least made it out of the Senate Commerce Committee, enjoyed clear sailing during their hearing there, and are expected to have clear sailing on the Senate floor.

Senator Grassley excepted, of course.

RBR-TVBR observation: Does anybody know who wrote this? “Sen. Chuck Grassley will finally end his hold on FCC commissioner nominees Jessica Rosenworcel and Ajit Pai in time for them to be sworn in during the month of January 2012.”

Oh yeah, WE wrote it. It was part of our fearless forecast for 2012.

We are hoping that Senator Grassley will coming swooping down onto the scene like Superman taking extreme measures to save the lives of Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson – although this time he’ll be saving our reputation for fearless forecasting.

Alas, it’s looking more and more like we’re about to record our first wrong prediction of the year – recording a strikeout for our first at bat of the 2012 prognostication season.
