Julius GenachowskiJulius Genachowski will be in Las Vegas for the 2012 NAB Show. The trade group announced that the FCC Chair will address the convention Monday 4/16. The session runs from the 14th through the 19th.

Genachowski’s Monday session will kick off at 2:30 local time.

Genachowski’s tenure as Chairman began just as the transition to digital television broadcast was wrapping up; the heavy lifting during the final few months was actually done by recently-retired Commissioner and then acting chairman Michael Copps.

Since taking the helm, Genachowski’s main focus has been on making room for more wireless broadband service, a goal which features yet another round of radical change for television broadcasters, who according to an act of Congress will have an opportunity to participate in incentive spectrum auctions and will face the prospect of channel repacking.

“We are pleased Chairman Genachowski will join us again at the NAB Show and look forward to hearing his perspective on the communications policy issues before the Commission,” said NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith. “With the FCC poised to tackle the incentive auction legislation and many other critical regulatory issues this year, the Chairman’s address presents a welcome opportunity to engage in productive dialogue on issues that impact the future of broadcasting.”
