FCC Adds to Incentive Auction Team

FCCJean Kiddo is joining the FCC’s Incentive Auction Task Force as deputy chair for the transition.

Kiddoo will focus on planning for and implementing the post-auction transition, when the commission will reauthorize and relicense television stations that receive new channel assignments in the spectrum repack.

Part of the transition involves paying winning reverse auction bidders and administering the $1.75 billion relocation reimbursement fund.

Like the auction itself, the transition will be an inter-disciplinary effort that involves multiple bureaus and offices within the commission and will span several years. The FCC said Kiddoo’s addition reflects the agency’s increasing attention to the transition now that the auction is underway.

Kiddoo was deputy chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau since 2014 and she took part in the steering committee for the incentive auction.

Prior to the FCC Kiddoo was an attorney in private practice for 30+ years.

In her new role, she will work with task force Chair Gary Epstein and Vice Chair Howard Symons.
