A series of seeming news reports on Journal Broadcast Group’s KTNV-TV Las Vegas were in fact commercials for local car dealers disguised as news reports. A hefty contribution to the US Treasury is part of a settlement agreement between Journal and the FCC.
The broadcasts were labeled “Special Reports” and the fact that they were paid for was not disclosed to viewers. The stories aired in 2009.
