Entercom‘s Queen City cluster has appointed a radio industry veteran who has been at an “Ocean” for the last several years.

Darrin Arriens, an ex-Citadel Broadcasting regional director who has served as the PD of Vero Beach, Fla.’s Treasure and Space Coast Radio as its new Director of Operations, will now hold the title of Director/Operations for Entercom’s radio stations in Charlotte: WBT-AM & FM; WFNZ-AM & FM; and WLNK-FM.

The move comes as part of the stations’ integration into Entercom, which acquired the stations after Beasley Media Group needed to place them into a trust in order to complete its merger with Greater Media, and meet FCC ownership limits in the South’s second-largest market.

Arriens will not only see promotions and programming, but also the continued syndication of the WLNK-based Bob and Sheri Network.

He reports to Matt Hanlon, VP/Market Manager for Entercom/Charlotte.

Arriens has overseen Adult Standards WOSN-FM “Ocean 97.1,” Hot AC WGYL-FM 93.7, WJKD-FM 99.7 “Jack FM,” and News/Talk WTTB-AM 1490 and FM 105.7 in Vero Beach for Treasure and Space Coast Radio since September 2012. In the prior 12-month period, he served as Cumulus Media‘s Grand Rapids, Mich., station group.

From 2010 to 2011, he served as a Midwest regional director of operations and programming for Citadel, overseeing 55 stations in the Midwest.

“We are focused on maximizing our impact across all of our stations, being the best local marketing solutions partner and continuing to deliver the outstanding content that our fans have come to expect from us,” said Entercom/Charlotte VP/Market Manager Matt Hanlon. “The move to establish a Director of Operations underscores our commitment to being best-in-class.  I am thrilled to welcome Darrin to the Entercom/Charlotte family.”

From 1994 to 2004, Arriens was a successful program director for former Active Rock WKLQ-FM 96.5 in Grand Rapids, a Howard Stern Show affiliate.
