Staying relevant in the new dashboard is all about branding. SiriusXM Satellite Radio has renamed its next generation service to “360L” and is now deploying demo cars with the technology.
The new platform will combine satellite radio with 4G LTE, allowing two-way communications with consumers and more customized music choices including on-demand programming. Company CEO Jim Meyer told analysts last week the satcaster is “gaining traction” with OEMs (automakers and their suppliers) in deploying the new platform.
From the demo cars now on the road, “we’re learning from real-world testing what works and what doesn’t work.”
The new system will also allow the company to manage customer billing on the screen.
