COX CommunicationsCox Communications and the FCC reached an agreement to end a data privacy probe.

As part of the settlement, Cox will pay $595,000 to the U.S. Treasury.

The investigation centered on whether Cox failed to protect customers’ personal information when the company’s electronic data systems were hacked in 2014. That allowed third parties’ access to the personal information of some 6 million Cox customers, according to the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau.
