Comcast's Fancast Jumps to Top 3

comScore announced its October numbers, and Fancast has jumped to #3 in the TV Entertainment category with 11.3 million unique visitors (almost double the September numbers, 6.5 million).   The numbers represent a 244% YOY growth for Fancast and a 72% month over month growth, and place Fancast in the Top 3 alongside Yahoo! TV and AOL TV. (Hulu.com is in the Multimedia Entertainment category with 19 million uniques).

The growth is the result of some strategic moves by Fancast to fine-tune the site to appeal to tried and true television fans:

•     September saw the launch of an aggressive national advertising campaign.  The tactical advertising campaign promoted the Web site via broadcast and cable television, online, outdoor and social media efforts, playing into the excitement around the 2009 Fall television season

•     Also adding to the increase was an unprecedented cable marketing partnership with SONY for its blockbuster movie, 2012, where viewers got a 9-minute sneak peak of the film on Fancast

•      Fancast kicked off a series of programmed editorial specials including, Fall TV Preview, Fancast Halloween, and a re-vamped Family entertainment page.  These unique micro-sites helped to drive return traffic, and will continue to deliver fans seasonally (Fancast Holiday was launched in November for the Thanksgiving and December Holiday season: http://www.fancast.com/specials/holidays)

•      Fancast encourages active users by hosting live chats with reality TV contestants on Top Chef, America’s Next Top Model, Survivor and Amazing Race
