Columbus combo headed for new owners

SoldAn AM-FM combo serving territory in and near Ohio’s capital city is headed for a new owner, but first old ties will have to be severed once and for all.

The stations are WVKO-AM, licensed to Columbus OH, and WVKO-FM, licensed to Johnstown OH.

The seller is Bernard Ohio LLC, headed by Daniel B. Zwirn.

The buyer is TSJ Radio LLC, a subsidiary of Gate West Coast Ventures LLC. Managing partner Josh Guttman signed off on the deal for the buyer.

The price is $743,750 cash.

The sellers are required to notify a company called Gold Chip, which had a TBA/purchase option for the stations, that it is planning the sale to Guttman’s group.
Gold Chip will have 30 days to negotiate its own deal for the combo, and if that does not happen the contract says there will be no further relationship between the seller and GC.

WVKO-AM is a Class B on 1580 kHz with 3.2 kW-D, 290 W-N, DA2. Its primary contour nearly duplicates the yellow part of the Columbus map.

WVKO-FM isn’t nearly as well centered. It’s a Class A on 103.1 MHz with 1.6 kW @ 443’. It serves territory to the northeast of town, with the primary contour tangential to the urbanized area.
