Rick BuckleyThe late Rick Buckley, who had been President and CEO of Buckley Broadcasting, will be the recipient of this year’s Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award.  The Award will be presented posthumously during The Broadcasters Foundation of America Breakfast on April 18, at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, in conjunction with the NAB Show.

Buckley, who died suddenly last July from a brain embolism, was a longtime member of the Broadcasters Foundation Board of Directors and served as its treasurer for many years.  In recognition of his commitment to the charitable mission of the Broadcasters Foundation, The Rick Buckley Memorial Fund was established shortly after his passing.

A champion for the radio industry, Buckley was a past Chairman of the Board of the Radio Advertising Bureau and a past Chair of the Southern California Broadcaster’s Association.  As a member of the Board of Trustees at his alma mater, The University of Miami, Buckley was instrumental in establishing the Richard D. Buckley Audio Lab.  Just prior to his untimely passing, Buckley was inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame just a few weeks before his death.

The Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award honors an individual in broadcasting whose work exemplifies innovation, community service, advocacy, and entrepreneurship.   It salutes its namesake Lowry Mays and is underwritten by The Clear Channel Foundation and Wiley Rein, LLP.
