Breaking: Cablevision agrees to deal with Fox

The stalemate has been broken. Cablevision has agreed to a new agreement with News Corporation for a new retransmission consent agreement for the Fox O&O stations in New York and Philadelphia and a new programming agreement to return the Fox cable networks to the Cablevision systems – some three million households, mostly in the NYC DMA.

Even so, Cablevision is still complaining: “In the absence of any meaningful action from the FCC, Cablevision has agreed to pay Fox an unfair price for multiple channels of its programming including many in which our customers have little or no interest.  Cablevision conceded because it does not think its customers should any longer be denied the Fox programs they wish to see.”
