Anchor away: Minneapolis Fox O&O newser is now a running mate

As promised, Fox KMSP-TV news anchor Robyne Robinson retired from the station after a career spanning some two decades, but resurfaced quickly as a candidate for Minnesota Lieutenant Governor as running mate to Matt Entenza.

KMSP is owned by Fox and serves the Minneapolis-St. Paul market.

It is the first foray into politics for Robinson. However, but to make it into office, she and Entenza first have to survive a three-way primary to earn the Democratic Farmer Labor Party nomination. According to the Star Tribune, that means they will have to get past former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton and Minnesota House Speaker Margaret Anderson.

Besides not having any direct political background, Robinson is not known to have contributed to a party or candidate. However, she claims to have voted for many Democrats and independents and has a history of supporting positions generally more welcome in the Democratic sphere.

Regardless of the outcome of the race, Robinson is not expected back at KMSP. She has been having success with a jewelry design business, and intends for that to be her day job, even while campaigning.
