Consulting engineer Ted Schober says that AM stations need help and are historically deserving of getting a crack at an FM translator as a means of getting that help. And he has an idea that may make such an auction possible despite FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s philosophical problems with a limited-entry auction.
Schober made his views known in an open letter to FCC Commissioner and AM radio advocate Ajit Pai.
