One of the biggest Hispanic and millennial-targeted media companies in the U.S. has brought on a former Asst. U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York to serve as its SVP/Associate General Counsel and Head of Litigation.

In the new role, Lan Nguyen will lead UCI’s legal work on litigation and employment law matters across all business units of the company.

She will be based at Univision’s corporate headquarters in New York, rather than in Doral, Fla., and reports to Univision Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer Jonathan Schwartz.

“We are further strengthening our legal department with the addition of Lan, a seasoned prosecutor with extensive experience working on complex litigations, most recently on behalf of the U.S. government,” Schwartz said. “Her background and skill set make her ideally suited to lead our litigation and employment law efforts and better enable our department to serve business and corporate units across the company.”

In her most recent role for the Federal government, Nguyen led investigations related to public corruption, financial fraud, money laundering, bribery, extortion and obstruction of justice. She personally spearheaded multiple criminal trials and appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Nguyen from April 2007-April 2009 was a VP in Morgan Stanley’s U.S. Litigation Group, where she supervised outside counsel and was responsible for a wide range of civil and white-collar litigation.

From Oct. 2012 until joining Morgan Stanley, Nguyen served as a litigation associate at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York.

She began her career as a law clerk for Judge Sarah S. Vance in the U.S. District Court in New Orleans.
