A ‘Faithful’ Exchange, Right By Bismarck

It’s not often that Educational Media Foundation, parent of the Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) formats KLOVE and Air1, opts to sell a radio station. Yet, that’s what it’s doing with a Class C3 facility just south of Bismarck, N. Dakota.

For a total purchase price of $50,000, EMF is divesting KLBF-FM 89.1 in Lincoln, N. Dakota, to University of Northwestern-St. Paul.

Not to be confused with Chicago-based Northwestern University, “UNWSP” is an institution devoted to “equipping Christ-centered learners and leaders to invest in others and impact the world.”

Since its first broadcast in 1949, Northwestern Media, a ministry of University of Northwestern, has been a beacon of hope. Northwestern Media runs 15 listener-supported Christian radio stations in eight Midwestern cities, with KTIS-FM in the Twin Cities airing a Christian AC format. At co-owned KTIS-AM 900, licensed to Minneapolis, a directional two-pattern facility with 50kw daytime/.5kw nighttime via a four-tower array blankets the entire region as “Faith 900” —a Christian Talk and Teaching station.

KTIS-AM’s programming will be rebroadcast on KLBF, the school says in its main studio rule waiver request.
